TDI has a statutory system using baseball style arbitration to help Providers and Insurance companies to resolve out of network billing disputes and to provide protection to the Patient. The one down-side to the system, is that it is a one-size-fits-all approach. Arbitrators such as myself have one fee, whether it is a higher ticket multi-claim case, or a smaller, one patient issue. I have done hundreds of these cases and they have their place.

I am pleased to now offer an alternative outside of TDI for small claims (generally at or less than $1000.00) and one patient. This would provide an option to contractually agree to skip the TDI system. This should not be undertaken lightly, but this allows willing Providers and Insurance companies to quickly and cost-effectively resolve smaller billing disputes.

Both parties would have to contractually agree, and the process would be limited to the same 10 items provided for by statute, but in a streamlined format and at a lower fee. This means the case can be resolved quicker and cheaper, which should benefit both sides.
